Anyone know why this stamp would have been cut in half? And is this worth selling by itself or just put it with a load of others and selling by weight?

It's a fiscal use, so presumably the amount required was 1/6, hence the bisecting.

That's cool, didn't realise they did that. I suppose they clipped coins ages ago so makes sense.

Do you have other bisected stamps, on or off pieces? Why would you sell such items "by weight"? Please show pics of other such items.

I think this is the only cut in half one. I have inherited a wine box full of stamps, some in albums and some clumped together in envelopes, and have been told for the whole lot of them at auction I would get £150 to £200 so trying to figure what to sell separately and what to sell in bulk.

Based on your other postings, I would take the whole lot to an auction, and hope for the best. Good luck.

Postally used bisects are much rarer than whole stamps and generally sell for much more. Not sure about revenue stamps but would guess it would be similar.

Agree. So, best idea for this one is to keep it on the paper fragment (do not soak off or trim the paper).

You have a Jamaica Judicial 1858 pair, one bisected.
1/- red Catalogue 2000 £5 (singleton)
Barefoot #1
Unwatermarked Perf 15.5 x 15

(These stamps as imperforate are proofs)

No mention of bisects

A lovely piece
