Soaking Postal Commemorative Society First Day Covers

Hello everyone, I've recently acquired a set of large binders with Postal Commemorative Society first day covers. I collect stamps casually but have no interest in getting involved with first day covers. My understanding is that they have almost no resale value and this is compounded by the fact they are actually addressed to the person that had the subscription.

Given that they have almost no resale value and I have no interest in them, does it make any sense to attempt to soak the stamps off the first day covers and add them to my personal collection? I recognize that the process is time-consuming but I'm fine with that. The way I see it, it's better to remove the stamps and add them to my album rather than leave them on a first day cover that most likely no one will buy and appreciate.

I think that not much is lost if you soak them. Value-wise, soaked modern FDC cancelled stamps are not worth as much as postal used; I view them similar to a CTO cancel.

I have some FDC cancelled modern US stamps in my collection but replace them when I run up on postaly used stamps.

I agree. I will often buy FDC's from the post office of some of their older panes/sheets that are out of stock just to fill that hole in my collection.
