Identifying Cachet On This Cover

Does anyone recognize the cachet on this cover? Was this a cover from Covers Magazine containing, perhaps a renewal notice.

Seems strange that there is no return address.

Second class precancelled letter properly franked for one cent. Part of a bulk mailing.

Probably well known as a local dealer, so nothing more was needed at the time.

3rd class mailing. Note the "Sec 562 PL&R" above the stamp.

According to Wikipedia (so it must be true!), Holland, MN had a population of 275 in 1930, and 303 in 1940. Not large enough for carrier delivery, thus the absence of any street address is complete and proper.

Even now it's less then 200.

Well, thank you all for your replies. I have learned that Covers Magazine was published in Minneapolis from 1950 until it was sold to Western Stamp Collector in the 1960s. However, Holland is nearly 200 miles from Minneapolis, so it doesn't make much sense that its bulk mailings would be shipped that far for posting.

Most likely revcollector is correct -- this was a mailing from a Holland, MN dealer with Covers as his business name.

Conclusion at this point -- this was not a cover from Covers Magazine

My scant issues of "Covers" are boxed away, but I would keep an open mind. Many businesses hire outside firms many miles away to do the actual printing and mailing for them. Only the originals would have to be shipped to the printer along with the mailing list. Thus the mailing firms are the experts at sequencing/traying the bulk mails, which otherwise can be a hassle for each permit holder to master.

Based on the stamp used, I would think this was mailed long before 1950, although obviously it does not have to have been.

Return of an undeliverable third class item costs return postage. If you don't want to pay for a return, then no return address helps that as well as lacking an endorsement that a returned envelope would be paid for by the sender.
