Just Wanted To Say Thanks For Accepting My Registration.

Hello just wanted to introduce myself to y'all and give a lil description of what Im working with. I inheritedy grandfather's stamp collection, which isn't huge but decent size I think and from what I've seen he def knew what to look for, I say that because of what I've seen so far. When I type in rare and valuable stamps ALOT of mine come up! Now I know enough to know that that cld mean everything or it cld mean nothing. Red Washington stamps for instance, I believe there are 5 or 6 types of the Washington red, I believe I have atleast one of every type probably more! I've gotten many different answers to the value of some of these stamps. But from what I've seen thru research I do believe I do have a cpl that are very promising! I also have old coins that go back to the 40's and 50's some in very good condition to almost uncirculated condition! I also have a cpl of the original 1977 storm figurines along with a cpl G. I. JOE figurines. I have a hand full of silver certificates $1 and $5 . Just trying to get an idea of what I have here! Of coarse like many people this day in age I cld use some cash so I am looking into getting rid of some of this stuff but I want to have an accurate idea of what they are worth! I do have the value of some figured out that I have listed on ebay, but I don't want to screw anyone or myself for that matter so any and all info is greatly appreciated! It is helpful to post scans. If you, solely, are talking about US stamps I think you often should have an accurate perforation gauge, and a scan of the back as well. Outside the USA, watermarks may be essential for identification.

From earlier threads about people finding their stamps listed as rare and valuable, most of such rare stamps are a variety often not visible at first sight unless you are familiar with the variety, or they are listed on Etsy or ebay as rare and valuable but cost more to scan than they are worth.

Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences.

My personal bias is a used stamp loses the story of its journey in the postal service when it is removed from the cover it transported to its destination. Collecting postal history adds a whole new aspect to your journey in our hobby.
