Can anyone give me a 2022 Scott catalog price for Great Britain no. 3 used? My 2019 reads 9.00 for used and I'm told the 2022 is now 32.50. Tks.

My biggest surprise in 2022 Scott was my China #B9a SS MNH shown below: 2021 Scott was $110.00 MNH 2022 Scott is now $200.00 MNH $90 jump in one year. Linus |

Thanks for the confirm. It does seem like a big jump. Maybe a misprint in the 2019?? |

I've been using a set of 2017s but wanted to check in my 2021 Classic what the Hong Kong Silver Jubilee set MNH is running nowadays, went from 200$ in 2017 to $110 in 2021. Youch. |

Well, all big moves. I was checking only because I was looking at some of the Sc listed GB #3's and was told a cat price of 32.5 was listed and it seemed like a big move. Otherwise id never had checked. Now im curious to make a similar comparison from SG for 2019 vs 2022. |

Keep in mind, not every section or country is reviewed/updated every year. The logistics would be immense.
A better perspective would be to have annual value* data for several decades and smooth-out the value jumps.
* I use the term "value", since Scott does not have a "priced" stock for sale backing up their values.
The annual changes in the Stanley Gibbons numbers would also be interesting, with adjustments for exchange rates each year. |

Agreed with John but would add that if the catalog was in a database, it would take only a few minutes to write/run an Update query. This could be done by date, by country, by series, or even across every single catalog number (i.e. adjusting up for inflation).
Note that my comment only applies to the logistics of making the update in the actual catalogs. It does not cover the time needed for discovery and decision making on what needs to be updated. If a catalog publisher does not currently have their catalogs in a database, then the effort needed is done page-by-page and is indeed mind-numbing overwhelming. Don |

Wasn't Scott's alleged rule of thumb to take SG's price for GB and present it as $, rather than £? Wouldn't work now, with the exchange rate close to even. |

Scott catalog for most of its life has been to use Dealer pricelist and published ads in philatelic newspapers for determining their catalog prices . They had a annual rotation of so many countries each year and only paid attention if a country was "HOT" then it was reviewed each year . There were countries which went 10 years with no changes .
There was three people who worked on pricing with one main person who was full time and travel for Scott Publishing,he attend shows and auctions ,his last name was Gelman or Geldman ,he was the last to have that position . I have idea how it is done today . |

Update - I heard back from Scott Publishing the other day. Then fellow who left the message, confirmed as others did, the 32.50 2022 price. He also made reference to SG as you mention and the 2019 Scott price and said if anything the 2019 price is low. The jist of his message was that they take the SG price and go off that. |

Regarding Great Britain Scott Number #3 1d red-brown - In Scott 2013 the CV was 24, so 2019 CV 9 might have been an error. On the other side, the Stampworld catalog evaluates a used one as CV 10.7, and when looking at the sellers' offers it is offered from 2 USD. |
