Hi friends. I am definitely out of practice. I have these two Ceres imperfs 25c. One looks light blue on bluish and the other Blue on bluish - but I could be kidding myself with one being faded. Thoughts? I appreciate your help. Thank you, Nora.

Bonjour, madame.

Yvert lists five shades for the 1850-52 Ceres 25c:

4 - blue
4a - dark blue on white
4b - blue on yellow
4e - dark blue on bluish
4f - light blue

Maury varies this somewhat:

4 - blue
4a - light blue
4b - dull blue
4c - dark blue
4d - blue on yellow
4e - dark blue on yellow.

Here are mine, arranged in order from lighter to darker:

Neither of yours looks light blue to me, but that may be (a) my screen; or (b) my useless colour sense.

If anything, I am tempted to say what I am seeing are stamps that are between dull and dark blue. I.e., like GeoffHa, I would not call either 'light blue.'

Neither looks faded.

Thank you Gents and Merry or Happy Christmas to you both. Very helpful on the different color variations - I see that different catalogues vary in the range of colors which makes it fun :). I am going to mount them next to each other - make a small note blue to dark blue (or something like that). Muchas Gracias!
