Quote:Hi Tony Got this SG O62 from ebay.. mint 13 X 13.5 Hope it was worth it..... I didn't follow that one, but as a nice copy of SG 91 recently sold on ebay for about 110% of Gibbons (£31 against a Gibbons cat. value of £28), if you bought your stamp for less than full Gibbons, you may have done well I have the strong impression that prices for Cochin are on the move, particularly for the better material. I've just bought some very nice, very expensive, Cochin from Murray Payne in the UK (www.murraypayne.com/rhome1c.asp), but there's still plenty of very good material for sale on their Web site. It's well worth a look, and they're 100% reliable and honest, which isn't always true of ebay sellers |

Thomas, your SG O92 is interesting, but just about every value in that 6th Raja set has good flaws. Sheets of most values, except the 3 Annas 4 Pies, can still be found for not too frightening prices, and you can spend hours finding flaws on them. Of course, used singles are available in quantity cheaply, but I always think it's more satisfying to be able to say which stamp on the sheet a flaw came from - and for that you need sheets, or large blocks with margins. |

Hi Tony The SGO62 - paid Rs.400/- or about GBP 6 for it. The SG price shows GBP 35 for mint and 12 for used. So I think it was a good buy.. or is it, if.... Thomas |

This one probably should be gummed (some later litho printings were issued without gum, and some were issued both with and without). Check yours when it arrives for gum. If it has gum, you've done very nicely. If it doesn't, send it back! |

Two arrivals today that should gladden Spock's heart at least. Both are from the 1942-44 surcharges on the Third Raja series First the 3 Pies on 1 Anna 8 Pies recess printed stamp, SG 75 and the 6 Pies on 1 Anna litho stamp, in the cheaper perf , SG 81a |

yes the habit wont go all of a sudden when 2020 arrives you will find you only like mnh now that was a superb block but some nice person decided to ruin it for all of us by sticking on a dirty old paper and then cancelling it 4 times just once would have been enough. pretty soon the acid will eat the stamps. I can bet you 5 $ that it will not see the light of 2200 |

Well, I'll tell you what, Spock. Find me some more examples of Barwani sheets ruined by being stuck onto envelopes and cancelled, legitimately, and I'll gladly trade you nice mint sheets of the same stamps for them. And - magnanimous chap that I am - I'll bear the risk that the acid will eat them away by the year 2200 ... by which time I will be 254 years old, and quite probably past caring. |

Yes, not cheap items, Thomas. But the SG 75 block was discounted because it has a few gum bubbles. I'd be willing to pay a smallish premium for a block without bubbles. They're very common on this issue. (And if you're ever offered any of the Perkins, Bacon Third Raja printings with perfect white gum, reject them. They'd certainly be regummed.) |
