TSMATX ----The scan of the Venezuela page looks like the top center yellow stamp with the 8 overprint looks like a inverted 8 , I don't have a catalog in front of me to be sure. |

TSMATX, it was Lot 1652, Netherlands and Spanish Colonies. Congrats on the 106c! Got mine during the Summer of '23!

Would have been a whopper of a lot if the collection hadn't been broken up. |

A fully completed Scott International vol. 1 would maybe get $25,000 to $30,000 .Once you remove a small percentage ,then it drops in value greatly .This collection also had a lot of side mounted stamps which changes everything .
So the auction firm made the right decision to break it down .
I like that Syria 106c ,I could use that stamp that is the second one that got away from me recently .
Agree that was a collection to go after ,for a worldwide collector it fills a lot of holes . |

Yes, a great series of lots, indeed! Was the Syria 106c advertised/photographed, or was it a complete surprise? |

GVOL21----The listing of the lot had it as C106c not 106c ,easy to miss if your not a Syrian stamp collector . |

I also purchased a Spain lot on Scott Specialty pages, for $75. Couldn't believe what came in this one, either. Gained around 30 stamps for my Big Blue, and in the classic Isabella period, there is just tons of CV in this lot. Several stamps over $100 and higher. Here is a nice almost complete set, and a nice complete set in this lot: The 4 peseta green from '75 unfortunately has a punch cancel, but has a $525 CV, and the '76 set is a really nice one also. Ray.mac ----Nice purchase with some very nice Spain . Surprise they left those better stamps on a page . I think I got a lot of competitions right here on this board, but it is good that other collectors see your purchases . |

Last month on this board I was crying about a stamp auction house not having any WW albums of worldwide stamps during a WW Collections auctions . Well guess what !! Now they are just being dumb ....
They put up for auction a lot this week .....but get this .....let me first describe the way they did it . You tell me what you think ?
" FABULOUS COLLECTION A to Z in 86 Scott International albums ,including " { they listed about 50 countries} opening bid $10,000 with a estimate of $20,000 to $30,000. no pictures
No details for $10,000 please can they write and add more details other than the names of 50 countries
Important questions like is this one set or did they mix 2 or 3 different sets of albums together to reach 86 volumes .
They didn't say ALL DIFFERENT STAMPS, that is a very important point to figure value or is this common stamps 4 or 5 copies thick all hinged together .
Have pages been pulled out ? Looks complete is important to anyone who wants to keep it intact .
Was the pre-1940 material pulled if so what years ? Am I buying all modern stuff .
How in the world can you bid on a set of albums without knowing how many stamps are estimated or a total estimated catalog value in those 86 volumes . Just dumb to my way of thinking .

Guess nobody is interested in Stamp Auction Companies selling $10,000.00 stamp collection and all they do is list 60 countries in the lot . ?????
I can sell you a $3.00 lot of stamp that will contain 60 different countries too. Guess stamp describers are getting lazy these days or the I.Q. of their buyers have dropped . |

The 86 vol . Scott International is up for auction in two more weeks , If the auction firm doesn't clearify what is in the lot ,then maybe one of the people who attend the viewing will post something . Surprise of the poor review they gave of just a list of countries in the lot . |

If I was the consignor of that lot I would be screaming bloody murder over the description and lack of images. |
