My apologies for possibly repeating my problem with my WW collection but my dream is to have a collection like Floortrader someday. I'm unorganized besides my US collection but have hundreds of thousands of WW stamps obviously many duplicates and I have 25 or so WW binders with so many different stamps. I keep getting stuck on moving forward because I want a clean collection all in the same type of binders A to Z. I can't even get myself to buy WW lots anymore cause I usually am buying many duplicates. Sorry for the ramble but my question is I saw on the ihobb.com website that you can buy a complete set of the world in Scott International 59 binders it says for 16k... big investment yes I know but does anyone know someone who has invested in this or so some of you experts think this is a good idea?

Sort your stamps first, then decide on the pages and binders you want to use. Make them yourself - the best method. Steiner - functional but ugly. Scott National - expensive. $16,000 wouldn't scratch the surface of a "full set of the world" though.

KyleB, as you think about how you like to collect, keep in mind that the Internationals are a compromise solution, not a comprehensive solution.

They usually don't have spaces for full sets; the high values aren't there. (Usually.)

There are sets that don't have spaces, at all. There might be 30 blank spaces that are covering a time period with 60 or more issues. You get to decide which stamps find a home in those 30 spaces, but what happens when you get to 35 stamps?

There are some dead countries that dropped out of the older volumes decades ago. I assume they weren't put back in for the current offering (but I don't know that, for sure).

The pages are printed double-sided, which might be okay with you, but you're going to get bulk/bulging binders, and the possibility for damage to stamps on facing pages. Interleavings can help; they add more bulk and cost.

All of this assumes that you're okay collecting to the Scott catalogue, and aren't hoping to incorporate shades, varieties, postmarks, pairs, marginal markings, and a hundred other interesting things.

floortrader, this thread has just passed the two-year mark. Isn't it time to do a new estimate of the count?

ARAGORN ---- Nice pages ,looking good .

I agree with GEOFFHA , You don't need a new set of Scott International for $16,000 .00 Please checkout a few stamp auctions like Rasdale and Dutch Country Auctions for a used set of International. Rasdale has a auction next month and Dutch Country just had one and will have their next one in about 6 weeks . These firms will have full sets {like 10 or 12 volumes } ,just look for a like new sets and you should pick them up from !,000 to $3,000 depending on how many stamps they have .They each have 4 to 6 auctions per year ,so take your time to find one to your liking .They also have bigger sets once or twice a year .Look around and take your time .

THIS IS WHAT YOU DON'T NEED .see below .
