Pushing 330,000 All Different Worldwide Stamps In One Collection .

That lot description was a mess , first the biggest fault was telling you what countries are in a worldwide collection ,did you need to know France ,Germany and Saar plus 25 other countries are in the world .Second problem was the "no commercial value for binders " What does that mean ,are they damaged ,stained or poorly printed . I see a nice set of album pages worth a few thousand but NO! something is wrong with them .

Not tell me there are a few strong countries that can stand on their own , no picture of full pages , All I know is 50,000 plus of the cheapest stamps in the world ,with duplicates on top of some stamps to make a total of 50,000+.

Not telling me what stamps catalog over $100.00 ,hundreds of items but are they in demand or are they the dogs of the hobby, stamps that can't stand on their own because nobody wants them . Hundred dollar stamps in poor condition sell for $5.00 like heavy canceled ,poorly off center or with faults . No details

I read that to say that the contents of a few of the binders are insignificant, but there is good stuff, too.

Now, would you or I think it's good stuff? The world will never know...

You can count on some things.

Any genuinely good stamps would be lotted separately. The same goes for Countries. A really decent Country collection would be lotted separately.

Any pages that would get the bidding juices flowing would be pictured.

If the material is on consignment Cherrystone would want to sell it hard to get their commission on both ends.

If Cherrystone owns the material they might shoot for the moon and if it is a no-go, they can wholesale it.

My guess is that it had a lot of higher cv stamps with not-so-great centering or condition issues. I always look for a statement like "no higher value faulty classics to inflate the value". They did not say that.

The bottom line is Cherrystone wins if it sells and what they DON'T say tells the tale. They would tout a complete Silver Wedding or MNH middle period Italian commemoratives or Russian souvenir sheets from the 1930's. They don't say anything like that.

GVOL21 ---you learn what is not being said .....50,000+ stamps ,says lots of duplicates ,it should say 50,000+ DIFFERENT . .

Its simple. Either they are completely incompetent, or there was nothing worth showing/mentioning.

I know the Steiner is basic and not a perfect design I just love that I can print pages as needed for the stamps I have for basically any country without spending tons of money and they seem more complete than other albums. For example I may have stamps for 100 countries but for some just a few stamps but now I have a way to mount those stamps on pages and can organize my binders alphabetically by country. Maybe 1 day I will have a big collection of binders and know where everything is instead of having 1000 glassines.

It does not leave me with a good opinion of them. As for the Steiner discussion, it has been discussed here many times.

Understood I like to show full pages from my collection but there are also tens of thousand of pages that have one to five stamps on the whole page .

1} This collection is complete ,nothing removed by us .

2} The collection contains all the countries of the world .No big gaps like French or British Colonies removed . Good Asia .

3}Here is a sample of whats in it catalog wise . Argentina{$1200.00} Germany {$3100.00} Canada {$1400.00} and Portugal $1000.00}

4}Contains many high catalog stamps .

5}Lots of complete sets .

6}Stamps not normally found in this type collection .

7}Desirable sets and singles cataloging in the $25.00 to $300.00 range

8}This is a ALL DIFFERENT collection not accumulation of duplicates on top of each other .

In the GB auctions I bid in, I'm used to skeletal descriptions and limited illustration (although houses will usually be happy to provide more pictures on request). The implication seems to be that much of the buying is still done in-person - and with bigger lots, the postage costs are certainly killing.

When you go beyond what printed album pages print and go beyond being a WORLDWIDE STAMP COLLECTOR and go down that path were your making your own way . This is what it looks like .

A important point is to explain and be clear to others were your at .
