Fabio that was interesting about Italy not doing CTO's I have these Italian stamps on piece overprinted for the island of Cos..do you think they may be favor cancelled or authentic..your opinion is fine..thanks, phil
Hi Phil, these stamps are cancelled outside Italy, on the island of Kos, just before first world war (except last one). I think they are favor cancelled, maybe as philatelic souvenir, but not cancelled to order. In my opinion: favor cancelled is a stamp cancelled in a post office. Cancelled to order is a stamp cancelled by postal administration and sold. Value of these stamps on letter is about 10 times higher than loose. Regards. Fabio
Thank you Fabio..yes I imagine a nice stamp like those on cover would bring a good price...i try to get the Trentino 1918 overprints on the Austrian stamps..but there are so many fakes and counterfeits I am afraid to spend too much !!
