Sorry Spock, I worship turtles (that is why you got me the turtle god stamp, remember). I don't eat them! |

Quote: nothing could be further from the truth we are all right because there is no acceptable definition in the market. There is a widely accepted definition..... MINT......as issued from the P.O......if it is not as issued, it is NOT mint. |

Spock doesn't your Turtle God have a name already? There is a Turtle God in Banaba Island (part of Kiribati), near Tuvalu. That god is called Tabakea, and it is a giant sea turtle that holds up the island on it's back. It is shown on a stamp issue, I will post it later when I find it. |

Tom,
to use your own phrase you are wrong but I do not wish to debate the issue any further as nothing that I say will convince you. To avoid any acrimony, I will just say lets agree to disagree.
okay back to stamp god now
BC,
I dont need the name of the turtle god we are looking for the name of the stamp god. after you get a good name we will ask puzzler to design stamps and then be on our way :) |

Oh Guys and Gals, I might have an answer here to the naming of a stamp god here. I have to first say that I as slightly piqued here in the fact that the masculine form of a name was being sought after, but in doing some research and it was as obvious as the stamp in front of your face, that the "Goddess" of Stamps would unequivocably have to be the Penny Black that had the engraving of a young "Queen Victoria". So, unless anyone has any other answers to this ever pressing, "hhhmmmm", I think the problem has been solved. BTW, I was always taught that a mint stamp was one that wasn't used/canceled, but in getting back into stamp collecting, after many years, I have noticed that many stamps are listed as MNH (mint, never hinged)So, for the sake of an argument, I'm willing to chalk this up personally, for myself, as "you learn something new everyday." Donna,
An excellent suggestion. We need a goddess and a god. :) I just cant imagine an existing stamp covering it. Maybe we can have a new design you think? |
