Evening all, this is the last of a group of early Russian stamps I need to identify. Managed all the others, between my SG Russia catalogue and Google. Does anyone know where this one sits? Hope this isn't catalogue blindness again! Thanks in advance.
Regards

It's a zemstvo from Imperial Russia, series 1906-1915.

Thanks Cjd. That explains it! As this is a local post my catalogue doesn't include this series. Google image also failed me this time. Any idea what area it comes from within Russia, or was it a 'general' issue?
Regard

Kotelnich. That said, I'm having a hard time matching yours to the listings in Chuchin or Soloviev. I'm seeing lilac rose, aniline rose, pale red. Maybe someone else with access to resources can chime in. Or maybe that will give you more fodder for the G@@gle monster.

Had me beaten,
I can usually pick these up, with searching my "Coat of Arms" database
but the scan was poor
One of those stamps, that looks so familiar, but you just can't place it.

Any members have a clear scan of this one?

This particular stamp may be the single worst image in all of Chuchin, and Soloviev's is way oversaturated and "blobby".

I don't have a list of what I own, so I'll just have to dig through them. Which I'm happy to do tonight. I don't mind having an excuse to look at them.

There was a series of Zemstvo frames in EXPONET a few years ago,
alas, I cannot find a "search" button there

That's probably it Collin (Mind boggling)
I think now in the Czech Postal Museum in Prague.
Will take some scrolling through that lot.

Kotelnich is found on pages 136-138, but only older issues are pictured. (I think that's the only place Kotelnich appears...the exhibit is rather impenetrable for me due to the language barrier.)

ETA: clarity

Lest you think I was overstating the lack of usefulness of the Chuchin image, here it is, with the two prior issues included for an example of what most look like:

(And it looks better as a scan than in hand.)

Aha! Thanks.
So I would not have gotten that "Arms"
Hand coming down from the clouds, with a bow, about to loose an arrow
Underneath an Urn with a handle

With David's image, I thought it was a "Lion Rampant" over a blindfolded person

That last image has nailed it Cjd! Mine appears to be 22, the aniline-rose.
If I ever get on the Trans-Siberian Express I will make sure I look out for Kotelnich, it is on the route apparently. Thanks for all the help and info.
Regards
DavidR

I would have had it at #23 Red (bordering on vermilion)
