Opinion:
Parcel Post canceller.
Made from Rubber of Felt or Cork.
Misprints are common.

Not sure about number 1, researching .

Chief Office was at Bishopsgate Street (1661)
then Lombard Street (1680)
then, Saint Martin's Le Grande (from 23rd September 1829) then?
We need a specialist.
Researching.

Rod
I found this on the internet but it surprised me that a stamp in 1883 would have this cancel
Maybe I'm totally wrong and misread
- The Chief Office, Numbers 50 to 80

The following are examples of the Low Number Cancellations from the Suburban offices in the London District Post. The first series were issued during May 1844 and consisted of numbers 1 to 48. Each is a number within a circle enclosed by an oval of horizontal bars. These cancellations are all scarce to very rare. Some exist only within the GPO Proof book. Generally coloured black but many also exist in blue, and occasionally in green or other colours.

I ignored the "oval" and "Bars"
But can't find any reference to the "1" for that stamp
That's why I decided to ask for help

Can you establish a later use of date for the cancel ?

Basics:
As I understand it.
In the early days, all mail (Incoming) was sent to the "Chief Office"
It was there, sorted, and pigeonholed, and then sent outwards to the "District Offices" for delivery to the specified addresses.

Others may have a more eloquent description.

Sorry, no.
These cancellations are basically a "Mute Cancel"
No indication aboard apart from the name of the stamping office.
Due to their make, rubber -cork, I would assume they would have been
repaired remade often.

(Yours looks like it is in particularly good shape)

Another Type from the database
