I have a question on the Panama 1938 Souvenir sheet. I believe Scott C47A

Does anyone know the exact first day of issue. I have found a date of February 12th 1938. But the "problem" is that I have the sheet on cover with a date of February 11th 1938.

Thank you for your help.

Kind regards,

Johan.

Johan, it would always help if you can show what you are talking about. But it really is not much of a problem - someone probably pulled a fast one on the postal service! Nice in any collection though,

Peter

I have no reason to doubt 1969 Gibbons, but I'll check Sanabria in the morning. Just in case.

Thank you all for your responses

Thank you Rod for the picture and the Gibbons date, an ongoing battle with my scanner, makes showing pictures difficult for me at the moment.

Still happy to have one on a cover.

1946 Sanabria has no additional information of note.

For those scoring at home, Scott and Sanabria both list a "1c-stamp-omitted" variety of the sheet, C47b in Scott. (The sheet doesn't include C43.)

It carries a huge premium.

Yvert Classiques doesn't add anything to the discussion.
