The above listings are emblematic of the many key sets and singles that abound in this unique collection. Quality overall is exceptional with few faults and mainly original gum and some better n.h. issues as well. Many of the Collectors favorite countries will contain most of the difficult to acquire stamps from 1880-1936 period without any of the 19th century off quality normally found in larger collections. A perfect holding to expand on or to use to jump start a powerful worldwide collection. Also, the resale potential is huge either for online sales or a public auction format. There are many hundreds of better singles and sets that time and space did not permit us to list so the total Scott value is enormous. Viewing this collection is a philatelic treat and the successful bidder will fully appreciate that fact.
Estimate; $100,000 - 150,000.

Too many duplicates for me ....lol Interesting lot ,the only negative thing was this beautiful collection was compacted into 3 volumes . I believe it could of been better presented and maybe yield a higher final price if each country or groups of countries were in separate binders /albums.

Didn't Kelleher have something like this a few years ago ,the state value was $600,000 worldwide collection and it realized $97,000 to the former owner of the firm Kelleher ,who would of broken it down over time .

I figure that the auction lot describers are so poorly paid they don't. Mind you it's not the auction house owners of the world writing up and describing lots but rather lowly wenches barely scraping by I assume

Pretty sure SR does describe some of the lots (and he is not the only auction owner that describes some of the lots), but I do know he lost one of his describers recently.

I doubt it. If s/he collected Empire material, it would have been likely to be housed in the New Imperial, which also included the dues, officials etc which the Ideals did not. I'm not even sure whether, when Gibbons made the Ideals and Imperials "permanent" on the death of George V, it even produced a simplified Empire album in the New Ideal form. I suspect not.

Spend time taking a second look this morning .

Now I think it will not hit estimates ,sure it has a lot of nice stuff that I would like to have . But having it and paying for it is two seperate things .

Any advance collector will look at it and say too many items I already have or I already got most of the set but just need the high values ,one or two stamps . It does not have the real early stamps to fill out the early part of a country collection . The stamps are from the early part of the mid-range time period . It doesn't have a lot of the better catalog stuff that catalog over $1,000 per stamp ,some but not enough to spend over $100,000 . I seen a lot of FORGERIES in many parts like Persia and Spain no mention about that from the describer .

It is a beautiful lot for a reseller like the above mention previous Kelleher Worldwide Collection ,lots of nice complete sets maybe for a smaller local auction house to buy . It is going to take a buyer time to catalog this whole lot to see if the value is there to be a reseller ,I am not sure of this so work needs to be done with a open catalog remember $100,000 to $130,000 is a long way away and a years worth of work ,plus you got to add in a few sets have faults as with any large collection .

Over all a decent collection and must of been a long time in enjoying and building it .

The Way The Description Is Written, it+wasn't+done+by+anyone+regularly+writing+stamp+auction+descriptions.

No mention of NH so I assume little is there of that and that $100K magic number would seem hard to hit. If floortrader couldn't see the value right away, I'm thinking $100k isn't there. Then I can suspect the low end is a reserve and not any kind of professional estimate, if that company ever does such a thing. Everybody ooohs and ahhhs over their prices achieved for some lots, but they lowball a lot of estimates to the extreme, implying they're just throwing out guesses, either to look good or just plain not knowing the material or bothering to do any research.

If you use anything more than the minimum of mounts in these albums, they rapidly become obese (and aesthetically unappealing on the page). Even with hinges, they'll bulge.

As Floortrader says, the emphasis appears to be on middle period, rather than the classics.
