Cover With No Postal Markings

I purchased some stamps off ebay a few years ago and just now noticed that the seller canceled the stamps on the envelope himself with his company stamp.
In the past the post office frequently will not cancel the stamps on covers that use old postage but the cover is still normally canceled near the bottom of the cover with faint barcodes on the front and back.
This cover has no postal markings either on the front or back to indicate it even went through the mail system. (Sent from BC to Ontario)
With no postal markings of any kind would this make it worthless as a cover?
This is a first for me so is this more common then I'm aware of?

Not exactly worthless but then again not worth very much either. It may be an interesting item to a modern postal historian relating to how the mail is processed or not in this case.

Did the stamps you bought arrive in this cover ?

Is that address label stuck over another address as it looks ? If so I gues that the seller just reused an envelope that had missed being cancelled the first time through the mail.

As to why they used their company stamp ??? - that seems a good way of pointing the finger of blame directly at themselves.

They have an email address. You might send them a message asking whether they have a contract with Canada Post that allows them to (pre-)cancel their mail.

I just received a lot from Weeda yesterday covered with stamps and many of their cancels. They use their own precancel on all their shipments.

So, the cover has postal markings, i.e., the pre-cancels.
