I started collecting in 2016 when I was in high-school still, until unfortunately, my entire collection (about 6 years of dedication was put into this collection so I was pretty proud of it) was stolen from me. I was so devastated that I told myself I was done with stamp collecting… it's been almost two years since but I'm happy to be getting back into what I loved doing so much, I am starting completely over from scratch, and I'm very excited to have found this site with such great people!

Welcome to the Stamp Community Family!

I am glad you decided to get back into it. It's traumatic (yes, it really is), when you suffer a loss like that, and I think it will be cathartic and rewarding in other ways to be "into" stamps again.

Also, it's great to have a "youngster" like you involved in stamps and participating in this board.

So, again, "Welcome", and I hope you get a lifetime of pleasure from this hobby.

Welcome. Since you didn't say otherwise, I assume you collected worldwide.
Sorry for what you went through.
Starting over might be easier than you'd expect. I see nice deals on ebay:
1Kg (18,000 stamps) for 65 EUR, 3000 different stamps for 38 EUR, and so on. There are also offers of albums filled with stamps, so you get an album too.
If you agree, keep us updated on how your collection is progressing.

I applaud your willingness to get back into the hobby despite your loss. Nice to hear from someone of the younger generation involved here. Welcome!

I was collecting actively during my 7th-8th grade period as a kid, with a friend, and he had his collection stolen by a classmate of ours. It took awhile to find that out, but his stamps started showing up at the local stamp dealer's shop. Anyway, I feel your pain.

Keep at it, if you love it. It is a rewarding life-hobby.

Welcome!

seadawjam,

Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences.

My personal bias is a used stamp loses the story of its journey in the postal service when it is removed from the cover it transported to its destination. Collecting postal history adds a whole new aspect to your journey in our hobby.

Wishing you many enjoyable future days in our hobby. Russ
