I just inherited a lot of stamps, coins and souvenir sheets that were printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing and I'm not sure what to do with any of it.

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

Bob

Welcome to the Community. As you may have read in similar postings from others that have inherited stamps, we love to see scans to help you with your basic questions. Depending on what you have, we may ask for more scans, or recommend going to a local stamp show to get some information. Glad to have you here.

Welcome Beer, I lived in Queens for 26 years before moving to Florida. Are you from Nassau or Suffolk? Definitely create some scans of your material as everyone in the forum enjoys seeing images of stamps. And as Partime said above, images help the members provide guidance.

As far as stamps go there are sheets of stamps, US, UN and some Great Britain (Guernsey 35p and 7p that honor the Queens Silver Jublee 1977). I also have every USPS Stamp Yearbook from 2022 to 1974. I also have about 25 small (6"x8.5") UN issued mini stamp albums, with mint stamps inside. Dated from 1985 to 1991.

I also have like 11 3" binders full of souvenir sheets published by the Bureau of Engraving (BEP).

I also a complete set of American Bank Note Company Archive Series 1987-92..(Total: 6 books). Same as this that I found on the web.

I can't imagine scanning all this into the computer and posting it. Is it worth the work? I was hoping that I could take the collection somewhere and have it appraised. I live out in Suffolk County Long Island, but I'm willing to drive a couple hours. Is there such a place?

One option is Huntington Stamp and Coin. Another might be Legion in Massapequa Park, who traditionally has been a strong buyer/seller however I am not sure they are still in business.

Shermae: "Another might be Legion in Massapequa Park"

I live nearby and it seems to be closed with the number not in service.

I'm also from Queens originally (Floral Park/Glen Oaks)

The ABNC archives set are listed on one dealer's site at $2,300. The most valuable seems to be the 1992 set. That is a retail price, you will be offered less, but don't give them away.

Welcome to group. I am a collector in Central Islip. Where are you located? There is an active collecting group at the Riverhead Library. They meet at 7 pm on second and last Thursday of each month. It is a mixed group that can help you assess what you have. You can call the library for contact information.
