Next Edward VII stamp, wm mult crown CA, Stanley Gibbons 17, should be green, but is bicoloured instead! I cannot find this variant in my SG catalogue. Is this a case of colour changeling, or a true variant? Your feedback will be appreciated!

These look like key-plate stamps that were printed from two different plates. You might want to check whether the head plate was different from the value plate. If so, green and green may be a better description than 'green'.

This looks like fading of the fugitive ink used for a head plate.

Here are 2 used, one completely green and the other with pale vignette. Pale centers are dated 1906, 1907 and 1910. I didn't checked wmk, maybe 1904-1907 (wmk 3) issue has pale vignette and 1903 (wmk 2) issue has dark vignette.

That right stamp is not a pale but faded head. It might have been pale green, but that pale green has faded.

Thank you very much for the clear information. I already had the suspicion the inner colour might have changed due to external influence, and your input confirms this! Thanks again.

Exactly NSK. It seems that the centers from the 1903 issue don't fade, the used dark one on my side is wmk2 and I soaked it, no changes. It would be to confirm that mint sample with wmk 3 has dark center, or if mint ones are already paler too.

I only have WW Scotts catalog, they speaks about varieties in specialized catalog, I wonder what are those varieties.

Sorry I need to edit previous message. The color of the vignette is water-soluble in both issues :

Stamp is 'nicer' now but well, maybe not the best move from me!
