Hello everyone,
On this old postcard you can see the 1920 postmark, the origin (New York Hudson Term.Sta.) and the legend "Learn while you Earn, Join US Army".
I would like to know if this stamp has any value, or it is just one of many.
Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.

We usually send people with questions on these types of stamps to this very informative website:
https://stampsmarter.org/features/S...rank_ID.html
You have a "Type C" stamp (per that website), so you should be able to find it quite easily. Good luck.

Thank you both for your help. I gave it a try and this is the result:
Type C, denomination 2C, perf 11x10, watermark none, rotary press type, variety type II, Scott 539.
I counted 11x10 perf but I'm not sure I did it right... And I have read that it is variety type II if there is only one line in the curve of the ribbon above the second "2".
Have I been very wrong?

Toranda - Let's see if I can help. The first thing I generally look at is the toga rope. If the top line of the rope is weak we have a Type I and immediately have narrowed things down. Your stamp is Type I. (Note: All perf 12 stamps are also Type I)

Now we have several choices that are differentiated by perforation rate, no perforations (imperf) or coil. You should use a perforation gauge to determine the perf rate. Counting the holes is not advised. Your stamp is perf 11.

Now that we have Type I, perf 11 that leaves two choices. Scott 461 or 499. The two differ by watermark status. 461 has a single line watermark and 499 has no watermark. Since the stamp is on piece we don't know the answer to the watermark question but we have another clue and that is color. That is a tougher one and I would guess 499 but not guarantee it.

So, we are down to needing watermark status but have narrowed our choices. We have another weaker clue that may not mean much and that is that 499 was issued in 1917, two years after 461 and closer to your use date of the card.

At this point to claim it is the much more valuable 461, especially as an on cover example, it would need to be expertized. That in itself will be an involved process. The cost is not insignificant if good and will never be recouped if not a 461.

I came here by chance, I'm new to this. And you have been a great help, thank you so much. I will look for information on expertization and evaluate the possibility of doing so. If I have news I will let you know.
