Hi I found this in a bundle from ebay. I assume it's a forgery as there are already two on ebay, and apparently only 20 or so in the world. Being new I need help. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Only 20 exist? Are you confusing this with the listing for Scott 55b, the inverted frame variety? I agree with direction NSK is going. Why isn't this a regular Scott 55, which lists at $4 in the 2019 catalog? |

Hi, I don't know anything about it as I am new to this world of stamps, that's why I'm asking you all, I hoped you could help me identify it with me. I only have an old 1967 concise gibbons catalogue which isn't much help. Please give suggestions. Thankyou for your time |

Ahh. I would be useful to pick up a newer catalog of whichever publisher you prefer. You should be able to find one 3-5 years old on the secondary market for a reasonable price. It will make your collecting efforts go easier. |

So would you think the two on ebay are also standard, or forgeries. One says it has a certificate, but if you can forge a stamp couldn't you also forge a certificate? |

The Stanley Gibbons Concise is a one-country catalogue. It does not list Denmark. @Ruthy, The two stamps differ in watermark. You shall have to look at the watermark. In many cases, a scan of the back, against a black background will make a watermark visible. Or you can use a watermark fluid. Now, you are making us guess. Do you have links to the listings? Everything can be forged. Saying it has a certificate does not mean it has. You would expect the seller to post a scan of it. Also, the certificate must be issued by the correct specialist. Recently, we had a member who was suggesting to make his own certificates for stamps that were common as dirt and he had identified as extremely rare. |

This seller has a lot of fantasy. https://www.ebay.com/itm/314042430142Quote: Hi thankyou I will have a look at the water mark. The worldwide one is called Stamps of the World. |

If you Put in 'Denmark 1912 4 ore' it should come up with the listings. Sorry I'm a bit computer illiterate and don't know how to link it in |

Yes thankyou for all your time, it's so difficult as a newbie to identify things correctly, and there seems to be a lot of con artists out there. I'm collecting mostly from job lots, so not paying much. As a consequence I have a lot of stamps I don't want. However it's great fun looking them up. Must get a better catalogue. Would you recommend a scott? |
