I was very involved in Scouting when I was growing up. I was in Order of the Arrow and I became an Eagle Scout just 7 days prior to my 18th birthday.
I have been thinking about starting a Scouting topical collection.

Here are images of a Boy Scouts souvenir sheet and the five imperforate airmail stamps contained within it, printed by photogravure (Bundesdruckerei, Vienna), and issued by Nicaragua on April 9, 1957 to commemorate the centenary of the birth of the Movement's founder, Lord Baden-Powell (1857-1941), Scott Nos. C386a, and C382-86. Note: On this souvenir sheet, the founder's birth year is erroneously indicated as 1856. - nethryk Reverend Joseph Alexander Harrison (1883-1964), a Moravian pastor who founded the Boy Scouts in Nicaragua. Here is an image of an engraved stamp depicting a Cub Scout and a Boy Scout saluting, the Cuban national flag, and the Cuban Boy Scout emblem, issued by Cuba on December 27, 1954 to publicize the third national Jamboree held in Wajay to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Scouting in Cuba, Scott No. 535. Note: While Scouting in Cuba started in 1914, the Asociación de Scouts de Cuba, founded in 1927, was formally suspended in 1961 following the Cuban Revolution. Today Cuba is one of only four of the world's independent nations that do not have Scouting. - nethryk |

I don't know much about the stamps of that country, but I'll admit I can't quite figure out all of the perforations used around that Bosnia-Herzegovina Europa 2007 -- 100 years of scouting souvenir sheet.
It would appear only the two central stamps are valid for postage, so all of the perforated green border stamps were merely labels and served no postal use. Granted, they needed a way to separate the stamps from the souvenir sheet that were valid for postage, but with ten (10) resulting green labels and only two (2) stamps valid for postage, it seems they went way overboard in the perforation process. |

Perhaps the labels around the edges of the stamps allowed someone to collect them all, or to separate the two stamps when used for postage and fit the selvedge, labels and one stamp used on an envelope. Many choices there for a topical collector. |

wt1 + Puzzler I just visit the website of their postal administration and it's not the only sheet they have issued perforated like that. Here is a blog on Europa stamps where you have links to all European postal administration. For many countries of the old eastern block you can view all the stamps they issued since the 90's. Found a pair of 1F Campfire stamps from 1939, overprinted on 1938 examples. I don't recall seeing them in this thread yet. I assume this is a French version of a Jamboree, though I don't know anything about French scouting. I've seen imperfs and perfs, in five colors. Here is the green...I also have the red brown, and I'm pretty sure there are red, blue and violet colors, as well. Feu De Camp | Arenes Du Lutece | 1 Juillet 1939 |

A former Scout up to First Class, I have been a leader for 18 years with Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and most recently Venture Scouts. Working on rebuilding a Scout topical collection, expanding it into FDCs, Event Covers, and PPCs. Early GS FDC: An interesting cover I found in an auction lot. Also have a matching cover with the 1 paisa issue: A couple PPCs I loaned to my daughter's Girl Scout Troop for Thinking Day: . |
