What would anyone recommend for a portable 10X or better lupe with good lighting. Would like to have a millimeter scale in it also.

Thanks in advance.

Try Google. And look for a loupe, not a lupe!

I have a handful with lighting incorporated into the device. The two I use most often are the Lighthouse version that has a handle coming off of the business end, and a linen tester.

The linen tester is small (very small) and folds into a tiny box. It has a bright LED, some "adjustability", and a mm scale. They are available in different magnifications. Mine is 10x.

I always wish that I liked the Lighthouse version more than I actually do. It's okay, though. Fairly bright lighting. A larger viewing area than the linen tester. Other than being black, mine looks like this one:

If you have an iPhone you can open the magnifier app. And save the image.

A couple of years ago a friend gifted me a slide out 30x 60x magnifier with two light settings. Search ebay for "30x 60x magnifier" (without the inverted commas) and you'll get the idea. Not top flight but servicable.

I don't work with stamps at night (if I can help it) so for day time viewing I have a jeweller's loupe that was made in Belarus. I bought it off ebay quite some years ago. It is a top flight piece of kit as far as I'm concerned

I have something similar to the Lighthouse product linked above by Cjd. I thoroughly appreciate it.

Expanding upon Germania's comment: There are magnifying adapters that clip onto a mobile phone. Thus, you can take an even better closeup photograph with the mobile phone.

If it is for use at home you should consider a digital microscope, they are between $12-15; You'll never miss a lupe.
