Hi there,

I have this stamp Scott 119 and is having multiple errors.
I believe is India soft paper, and have double grill...cant figure out what tipe of grill it is.
Half perforated and I believe the paper has been accidentally folded and after printed with ink.
On the back of the stamp because of the grill I think has a hole in the middle of the stamp.

let me know please your opinion.

Regards.

This stamp design appears to have been printed, and then prior to being grilled and perforated, it was folded. So, the paper fold caused a partial doubling of the grill and partial mis-perforation.

This is a NEAT freak due to the folding during the printing/grilling/perforation process (as seen from the minor diagonal crease, and partial mirroring of the grill), but not considered an error. The major diagonal crease may have occurred afterwards and appears to be a fault (but may have been part of a multiple fold prior to printing).

Hi, Thank You for reply.

I wonder what grill may be?
And in your opinion, is worth to get a certificate ?

Regards.

This is the G grill, which is a smaller grill with typically 12 x 11 (or 11.5) points.

As to getting a certificate, it depends upon the reason to certify. If to identify the stamp, it is not necessary. If to identify the "freak" qualities, the fold-over cause of grill and perforation variation may be noted if requested. As for valuation, this stamp has some eye-appeal, but with the multiple faults (grill hole, post-manufacturing creases), I think either with/without a certificate would garner $ somewhere less than the catalog value for VF sound.

As orstampman notes, this is a normal G grill.
The production error was a double foldover in the paper after printing. This results (when separated with scissors between the stamp images by the end user) in half the perforations lacking. As for the unusual grill impression, the grill was pressed only once. Consider this model of the back of your stamp. The points in the diagonal strip "B" are opposite those in area "A" and "C". The grill runs off the edge of your piece and is not complete.

I see no reason to get a certificate. The serious students of this issue would know the cause and effect.
