The stamp on the left is a legitimate Australia NSW SC A27, #79, wmk 55, and perf 11x12. Unfortunately it is poorly centered, and thin in the lower left corner, but given the 1894 cancel, it definitely appears to be real #79.

The stamp on the right appears to be a poorly printed forgery. For every forgery I have ever detected in the past, one of the primary ways to identify it as a forgery, beyond questionable printing, has been the lack of a watermark. The thing is, this forgery has a wmk that looks like a very good match for wmk 55. I did some internet sleuthing and did not find any hits on forgeries for this particular stamp.

Does anyone have a good source for forgeries of these NSW SC A27's? Or any other information on this particular issue?

I'm sure the stamp on the right is a forgery, but I haven't studied the later forgeries of NSW for many years, and have no literature at hand.

The paper and perforations just look wrong! Might it be some sort of production derived from a printed album?

Mavis Pope did the best book on NSW forgeries. There's no mention of this stamp on the stampforgeries.com website.

On another note, the cancellation on the stamp on the left is a travelling post office datestamp

40yearbreak,
Are you able to upload a photo of the front of the stamp with a strong light held behind it so that we can see the watermark through the stamp?
Most faked watermarks don't pass that test.

fairdinkumstamps - 3 images. 1st is the front through light, 2nd is back through light, 3rd is watermark tray.

From front with strong rear light:

From back with strong rear light:

From back in watermark tray and fluid:

The process I used to get the pictures from the phone to the computer to the email automatically drastically reduced the size. If there is not enough definition, I am sure I can find a way to get closer to 300 kb size.

Also, I twice forgot to note that the believed forged example is perforated 12.5x10, which is not one of the options the Scott Catalogue provides.

Well the watermark looks OK (SG Wmk 40 by the looks), so what do we have here?

A colour changeling? Dry ink print? Something else?

The perforations are still a worry though.

Hopefully fairdinkumstamps can shed some light

Very interesting and a great find!

This forgery was reported in 'Sydney Views', the journal of the Australian States Study Circle, Royal Sydney Philatelic Club, by Frank Andersen in issue number 150, February 2021.

It is of the same design, perforation and watermark as the stamp you show.

I haven't seen any other examples besides yours and the one in Sydney Views.
