Please can somebody identify this stamp. It has been cut to shape and I assume this detracts from the value. It looks quite crude, probably a cheap forgery?

Stamps from this period that have been cut to shape aren't uncommon.

See the GB embossed issues and NSW large diadems as two examples.

So much for me being definite about the watermark being horizontal. Now I have a better light it appears to be vertical.

It is a stylised sideways swan. As I suggested before, have a look at SG18, 1857. The swans are where the 'POST' of 'POSTAGE and 'PENC' if 'PENCE' are.
