I've already asked revenue document experts for input as well as some people in the scripophily field, but am striking out with respect to any conclusive support (or refutation) of my conclusions. I had hoped to refrain from posting about this publicly until I was more confident in my analysis, but maybe it's time to do a bit of crowdsourcing of knowledge.
Every day we see people posting/listing things that are "RARE! SCARCE! L@@K!!!" without having a clue, and I don't want to be one of those people. I know that I have a tendency to get "caught up in the moment" with excitement over a find and get a bit hyperbolic, so I'm trying to temper my enthusiasm somewhat.
The documents in question (one in particular), I am confident are rare, if not unique, from a revenue-stamp perspective. However, I believe they may also be incredibly important documents with respect to American railroad history, and I speculate that they are unique in that regard as well, but here is where I don't have the expertise/background to know if my speculation is on firm footing.
At the end of the linked page I've put several questions in red that I was hoping to get answers to, or at least input on, before I posted the article.
Any assistance would be appreciated. It's a long read, as I lay out the historical background first before showing and discussing the specific documents.
Thank you.
