Found this is a large old time collection of revenues. Not listed in Scott or any of the Match/Medicine books. Not sure if a stamp as it does not say internal revenue like all the MM's do. Possible an old package label ? Amny hlep is appreciated. Thanks

your item is very similar to the scott listed rs132 for hostetter and smith. they also had a 6 cent listed as rs 133. this is a facsimile used after the tax repeal by a successor firm, it may be in the (if I recall) springer catalog 9th edition, or one of jim drummond's cats. it is not all that common imo and is a nice addition to any match and medicine collection. |

Looks more like a pretend stamp used by a company to get around actually paying the tax. As such I would think it quite rare. Notice that it does not have U.S.Internal Revenue on it to prevent being arrested for counterfeit stamps. Only non payment of taxes. |

It's an unlisted company from New Orleans, so it is not a facsimile of any listed company, even though it looks similar to some. |

Don't know where any of you checked for Grey Jacket Bitters, but the manufacturer was located at 81 & 83 Gravier Street, New Orleans. |

My point about "unlisted" referred to the listings of M&M issuing companies as listed in the Scott Specialized, etc, not whether they actually existed. I assumed that they were a legitimate company. |

https://www.peachridgeglass.com/201...ach-bitters/Above is a link to a great article about Grey Jacket Bitters. Peach Ridge Glass is maintained by a very knowledgeable collector of antique bottles. The Federation of Bottle Collectors (FOHBC) also has links to information about M&M bottle to go along with the stamps. I collect antique bottle as well as stamps. Have a great day and take a look at these web sites. Lots of good info. |

I also have several bottles, although I don't "collect" them as such. I don't have this one. |

I have been collecting bottles and stamps for over 50 years. It's ironic that many low priced M&M stamps go with high priced bottles and visa versa. I don't have many bottles with their matching stamps, but it's fun to look at stamp shows and bottle shows just the same.
I always hear people complain about the stamp hobby having trouble attracting young people into the hobby. It's the same way with bottle collecting. Mostly grey hair at the shows. |

My interest in bottles also goes way back, but I have only bought 2 or 3 in the last 15-20 years. |
