So, I collected stamps when I was kid almost 40 years ago. I figure most are not worth very much. I was wondering about these? They are the oldest ones I have.
You are correct. Their value is quite minimal. Less than the cost of a current stamp to mail them to someone.
That said, they are mounted too early in the album. Note that your two stamps have triangles in the upper corners, while the album illustrations do not. Your stamps should match the next group in your album, likely dated 1894-something. As it turns out, there is little correlation between age and value. The 1 and 2 cent stamps were the two most common work-horse denominations of that era and were produced in HUGE quantities. I would recomend to enjoy them and don't get too caught up in any value.
Welcome. You can find out more about your stamps here (and as John noted, notice the triangle in the upper corners, see bottom of page at this link) https://stampsmarter.org/1847usa/id...nkNotes.html Don
