Our per-order fee is changing
We've kept our per-order fee consistent since we started processing payments in 2020, but due to rising costs, we're making an adjustment to this fee. This change will enable us to continue to improve our marketplace so you and your buyers can have the best experience on ebay.

What you need to know
Starting March 15, 2024, the per-order fee on orders over $10 will increase from $0.30 to $0.40 across all categories.

For example, if you #8203;sell a trading card for $25 including shipping and tax, you'll now pay a fee of $3.71 instead of $3.61, an increase of $0.10.

We understand this change could impact the economics of selling lower-priced items. That's why for orders $10 and under, there'll be no change and you'll continue to be charged the current rate of $0.30.

Wonderful! - Now every time a customer purchases 4 items from me & ebay automatically makes them pay (with shipping) 4 different times, I get to lose $1.20 instead of .90 cents when I combine their purchases and refund their excess shipping costs. /s

Yay I love money grubbing corporate strategies! I love it when Amazon starts charging extra for services that were once included free!

Thanks for spotting that. Not much to be done about it of course. Not a big percentage on most stuff (good of them to avoid it on low price listings) but it will add up for me.

I am unsure that 'money grubbing corporate strategy' is the issue; most corporations and companies are indeed 'for-profit'. And if for-profit is the defining criteria, then could we not also say, 'money grubbing stamp sellers'?

Costs for everyone always go up, the last few years perhaps more than typical. For example, it could be that ebay, being headquartered in the state of CA, has incurred cost increases that they are need to cover to keep shareholder and Wall Street happy.

As I understand it an order includes 1 or several items if they are paid for at the same time. I thought when I read this ebay was charging 10c for an entire order,
not for each item. Did I miss something?

ebay Managed Payments currently charges 30 cents PER transaction, they are raising it to 40 cents per transaction (over $10) with the March Sellers Update.

What irks me is this last year ebay started forcing immediate payments for buy it now items. Practically every day I have customers purchase multiple items (I only sell B.I.N.) that I have to refund for shipping and combine their items into one mailing. As an example - If I have a customer make offers on 8 items, I accept all 8 offers, the customer ends up paying 8 different times. Currently ebay Managed Payments charges a transaction fee of 30 cents each time the customer pays, that is NON refundable to me (the seller) even though I refund for the combined shipping. (In this example I am out $2.10)

ebay is well aware of this problem but they seem to be in no hurry to correct it.

In the UK and Europe they are adding a regulatory fee! Watch out USA!

From the ebay email received a few minutes ago:

At ebay, we value you as a seller and want to inform you about a change to our fees.

To address the rising costs associated with the increasing number and complexity of regulations impacting ebay's marketplace - including consumer and environmental protection, as well as new taxation and customs measures - we're introducing a new regulatory operating fee.

What's changing?
From 8 April 2024, this new regulatory operating fee will apply to all sales from listings on the following sites: UK, Austria, Belgium, France, Italy, Ireland, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, and Switzerland.

How the regulatory operating fee is calculated
This fee is calculated as a fixed percentage rate (0.35%) of the total amount of the sale (which includes the item price, postage, taxes and any other applicable fees), and is subject to Value Added Tax (VAT), where applicable. This fee is in addition to any final value fees and selling-related fees you currently incur.

For more information on the regulatory operating fee and to see how the fee will be calculated, please visit our Seller Centre page.

Buyers can help sellers on BIN items by placing them in cart and checking out when their buying complete.
If the invoice doesn't combine shipping, request it before paying.

Agreed.
Except that Offers no longer go into the cart. They are automatically paid for as soon as the offer is accepted. As someone earlier here suggested,

Quote:
As an example - If I have a customer make offers on 8 items, I accept all 8 offers, the customer ends up paying 8 different times.
