I got 2 books of stamps today. One is entirely US and the other is international. I'm not sure where to start or how to find the value. Could anyone please help me? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you in advance

If you have no idea of valuation, it may be better to research before buying (not meant to be snarky, but sound investment advice). Stamps can be an investment, but there are trillions of stamps out there with most being worth nearly nothing.

As shermae mentions, if you post some pics, we can offer opinions, but there is much more to understanding value and how you could extract value from them than just getting some catalog value or "street" value (eBay, etc.).

If you are thinking about sorting/collecting these, you may be much better off studying them for whatever your collecting interest is, than trying to sell them to make a profit.

Of course, you may have stumbled onto one or more that has reasonable value, but if you don't know what you have, it's like taking a chance on a lotto ticket, likely that you won't make a profit.

Now that you have the books of stamps, you can go to stampworld.com to check for approx. values, but understand that most that you find may be 25c or so (which means really worth about 10 stamps for a penny). Even if you find a value of $10 or more, you may only get 50c or $1 (depending upon condition, centering, appearance, demand).

You may want to start a collection with these as "starter collections". You will gain much more from learning about the stamp designs, history, and at least how to identify stamps (perforations, watermarks, design variations, etc.), which is what you will need to do regardless of inputs gathered here if you want to really know what you have, or have a decent chance of selling for profit.

Most libraries have Scott Stamp Catalogs available for reference. You can spend some time looking up what you have, by finding the right volume of the catalog (for example, find the one with countries starting with S) and looking through the illustrations and listings. Just be aware that the value listed in the catalog is not typically what someone would pay you for the stamp(s).

The day and place when you purchased the items they were worth $25. Har4d to say what the next sale price, if any, may be.
