The value of a stamp is in the pleasure it gives to its owner. Yours is not the only cheap stamp that measn more to its owner than its scarcity and market price.
Agreeing with the last two posts, Is that not the best part of our hobby! To obtain a stamp that we want to add to our collection and cross off our want list, no matter whether it is common or rare. Enjoy your find kevin v. because its an accomplishment to obtain material sought after, no matter how big or small.
I belong to a few local stamp collection clubs....I try and find some philatelic item (single stamp, cover, etc) that looks interesting or may have a "historical back story" and then produce some type of presentation around it. Lets say with your Mawson stamp, maybe add a few more stamps with Mawsons image then write a brief bio about him or one of his trips. (I do powerpoint presentations and some short newsletter stories) You could use that as an article in a club newsletter or give a short talk about him at a meeting. I know he has images or cachets on a few covers also, not just single stamps.
Kevin_v- I just wanted to say "Thanks" for posting the video! I only collect the World up to 1940, so I'm not really interested in the Antarctic Territory stamps, but like many others I've always been intrigued by Antarctica.
So, it was an enjoyable video and very educational!
