My collection consisted of a significant amount of various countries and US that I started when I was about 14 (that was 60 years ago) with my father. I inherited his small collection. A number of auction wins were also collected in various forms over the years. On Dec 22, 2022 I mounted my 100,000 stamp and took a look around at the boxes and boxes and boxes of albums and decided to take the bull by the horns and get things into a single collection. Since the last week of December 2022 I have averaged at least 4-5 hours a day on this task. Today, I completed it. The collection is now in 47 Scott Internationals, 23 specialty albums for my special interest countries and 7 Mystic American Heirloom albums for USA. Most countries are up to 1980 with a few going into the 90S. From Abu Dhabi to Zululand according to my software there are stamps for 566 stamp issuing entities and just shy of 150,000 stamps. I'd probably reduce that by about 5,000 to account for those where there are duplicate used and mint counted. The entire collection is graded and inventoried in my stamp software. Internationals have Steiner pages for all counties up to 1940. Specialty albums are either Scott pages or Steiner pages. All albums have glassine separators where there are facing pages. I had no idea what a task it was going to be when I started but now am very happy I did it. PHEW!! Now it's on to the incredibly large honey do list and of course all those other boxes of pages and loose stamps.

Wow, that is wild…sounds like quite a journey and quite impressive to have all of that done in 13-14 months. Great work! |

Congratulations, wheelman, on a mighty task for a mighty collection. Also, congrats on your determination to complete the task!!
My collection is in Scott specialty albums, but the number of stamps and binders is similar. My cut off year is a little earlier than yours, but that fluctuates up and down.

Amazing - congrats! Did you use mounts or all hinges? What was the thought process? |

Congratulations! I can't imagine as sometimes I feel overwhelmed with what I have and it's a lot less than what you're working on. I too would love to see some photos - maybe of your album bookcase. Also did you work country by country or year by year? |

Amazing and inspirational accomplishment and thanks for the photos!
It's really useful to know how long that took--personally, I'm just beginning a remount project of just one Scott Int'l volume (part 5) and kind of dreading it. Not sure sure if it will take me weeks, months, or years. But it's great to know there is light at the end of the tunnel! |

Nice. Please show us more pictures of the inside. It would be nice to see how a major collector mounts and displays the stamps. |

Amazing! This is my ultimate goal to have my stamp collection in an organized system of binders like this. I have many many thousands of worldwide but I'm still learning a lot. I'm curious do you buy the Scott International binders and then you insert your own pages either steiner you print or scott you have to buy per country? Any insight would be helpful |

Nice collection .
Kyle B. ---- You can buy a collection like that in two weeks at Kelleher Auctions for a price of $1800.00 to $7,000.00 depending on content . The key here is understanding how Worldwide Collections are price and what determines a value in today's market place . It would take two pages of explaining to understand things like complete sets , intact collections {has some countries been removed }, is the collection strong in pre-1940's . How many $50.00 and up are there ,how many countries are able to stand alone ,plus many other factors for me to get into . |
