Were the 2 cancels paid for to get letter airmailed ?

Gentle suggestion, when asking about an item or two, please show just the item(s) you have questions about and crop-out the clutter.

Moving on, assuming you are asking about the 2 U.S. stamps .... they both have an advertising slogan machine cancels to encourage to use of the airmail. They can appear on any kind of machinable mail. They do not change anything about the rate/cost/service given to any mail piece with this cancel, which was used in several dozen cities over a span of more than a decade.

Well the plane cancel on the Virgin Island and the 2cent US were the ones. Then the two over prints were printed that way I suppose .

I see the two plane cancels are US stamps. Were the other foreign over printed later ?

Thanks John for the info , these 2 over prints were the only air mail I've seen. I will explore to find similar add-ons.

Bulgaria


The overprinted stamp (Michel # 208) is from 1927

A friend restored a crashed bi-plane. The ride behind a massive radial engine was memorable. The Beechcraft Stagger Wing aka Queen of the skies .

This year marks 100 years since Clyde Cessna, Lloyd Stearman and Walter H Beech partnered to form Travel Air Manufacturing. The airline industry is probably trouble-free by now.
