I am sorting though an inherited stamp collection. I have the albums I want to keep for now but have thousand of duplicates and stamps I know no one wants. Is it worth it to go through them and look for the errors to find something of value. For example I have hundreds of Canada stamps with the queen on it?

It sounds like a fun challenge. Head to your local library or stamp club, they may have some reference material you can use.

But remember, the reality of stamp collecting is that we are all working for 5c an hour.

Have fun with it.

Mrkyle, you can get out the longwave blacklight you had for your flourescent posters, and look for tagging shifts and errors (Canadian stamps). Even on fdc's. I had thousands and only rarely do you find any of any signifigant catalogue value. But its the fun of jumping down that rabbit hole for a few hours of fun, can be rewarding. And dont forget , so called queen stamps come in sheet and booklet types and from different printers and witth differing perforations. Nowadays you can also find them with backprinting going different directions. Otherwise they are just kiloware, to be passed on to kids or charity. You never know whose intrest will be sparked and maybe put them on the path to collecting for fun.
