These were printed for general distribution in 1864, the problem was a quick regime change and they were no longer in favor. They were done a slightly toned paper and a few were sent to Monterrey and Saltillo. Some of those were actually used. Examples with the district name overprint used or mint are fairly rare and very expensive. The rest of that printing weren't used (except a couple of recorded examples postally used without the district overprint) and eventually made it into the collector market. The issue had a second printing in 1868 on white paper and none of those were placed in use at all. They also made it into the collector market. The unused without district overprint of the first printing catalog in the $2-5 range in Follansbee, the second printing catalog for $0.50-1.50. Does anyone have a side by side scan of the two printings? I have a couple of them I believe to be the second printing that have some surface coloration. I think it's just bleed from too damp of a paper, but don't know for sure. For some reason someone actually forged these. I have a single copy. It's engraved and perf 11˝ vs. 12 on the genuine. Some packet maker likely thought they were running low...
