Among the collection of classic UK stamps that I have managed to rescue from a numismatic store where they were thrown into a can among thousands of other stamps, I have found this beautiful copy of 1924 SG#430, which has the commemorative cancellation British Empire Exhibition 1924 that the stamp is represented, perhaps it could have been a first day cancellation? Or was this cancellation used throughout 1924?

It is a common slogan postmark used for the 1924 exhibition. There were no dedicated first-day postmarks, yet. But with the correct date (that is missing in your example) it could be a first-day cancellation.

Nice, an appropriate postmark for the issue.

You might look out for the perforation variety. These come with comb and line perforations.

Thank you very much for the info NSK!! In the SG catalog I have, haven't seen anything about variations in the perforations...as I have been able to rescue several copies, I will compare them with each other.

There might be a footnote in the Concise. The varieties are listed in the Specialised Vol. 2.
