I asked 'copilot', an AI program by Microsoft the following question:

"What is the province in Canada that the post office called Trinidad is located?"

it provided the following answer:

"Trinidad is a small community located in the province of Nova Scotia, Canada. It's situated in the Guysborough County region, which is known for its scenic beauty and coastal charm. The area is characterized by its rural landscape, with a mix of forests, rivers, and coastline".

The wonders of AI and the internet!

There is no post office named Trinidad in " Canada Post Offices 1755/1895" by Campbell. And there never was a post office named Trinidad in Nova Scotia.

I would suspect that this is not a Canadian Cancel. Perhaps it is Trinidad the island.

It is not exactly the same, but your example certainly looks similar to this example from Trinidad:

This my friends may be what they call a "hallucination" of AI. It gives you a confident and convincing answer with details (Guysborough County) and footnotes but the answer is a complete fabrication.

Instead of saying "I don't know" it just makes stuff up.

I asked Co-pilot the same question (but added an 1890s qualifier) and got Alberta as the answer. Then I did a search of the historical records of post offices it provided in the footnote and came up empty. "AI-generated content may be incorrect."

There appears to be a barred obliterator below the CDS. Maybe a clerk in Trinidad thought the obliteration was too weak. Maybe, it was a letter posted at sea on a Canadian ship. Or, simply, the CDS was applied upon arrival in Trinidad.
