Hi again, I have a MNH, G-VG RD31 and was wondering if there's any value to this stamp? Also, I have a RD31 perf. pr. with a Wright & Slade, NY postmark and wanted to know if there is any significance to this mark and is this worth anything? Thank you **UPDATE Sorry everyone for the terrible uploads. I truly hope these are better. Trying to figure out that optimizer.

With scans like that, no one will be able to offer an educated answer. You've got to do a little better. |

The optimiser will not solve the issue of out-of-focus pictures taken at an angle. |

Quote: The optimiser will not solve the issue of out-of-focus pictures taken at an angle. Correct. They need to be scanned AND in focus for best results and comments from this group. If you scan at 600 dpi and crop to the correct size, you almost don't need to use the optimizer. |

Is that better? I appreciate the feedback on uploading pics. Any comments on these stamps as to postmark and mnh stamp and values? Thank you |

From your last two posts, I infer you substituted for the earlier pictures. I am not seeing any difference. They look like the same out-of-focus pictures you had posted earlier. They will remain out of focus. |

Please, do *not* repace the original images, but instead add any new images into a new reply. Otherwise is disrupts the continuity of the conversation here.
I agree fully with others that scans are far superior to photographs. I scan all my postings at 300dpi for stamps, at 200dpi for items about the size of business cards, and at 100dpi for covers. They all come out under 300k and I have no need to do any image optimization.
Lastly, a subtle difference, the "Wright Slade ..." is a privately applied cancel on a business document, rather than a postmark. |

Quote: are they all out of focus? When you look at this thread, what do you think? Compare it to other threads so you can tell the difference. As far as value, probably not much more than 20 cents or so. |

A photograph me have a focal point and get fuzzier as you move towards the edges of the photograph. This is why a scan is preferable.
Your pictures are not just fuzzy at the edges but all over the images. This may be caused by using a hand-held device that has no stabiliser function. The device will tell you it has focussed on the object but when you tremble or touch a 'button' it moves and no longer focuses on the object.
I prefer to take pictures on my travels with a DSLR camera over doing so with my mobile phone. The former has a stabiliser and corrects the dummy holding it. The latter is fine for taking a snap of a local post office but not for remembering my trip. |
