Hello everyone,

I am struggling to identify this stamp, I'm looking for the Stanley Gibbons number. I think it's a 1924 but with the errors I'm not even sure about that.

I've noticed the missing bar of the A, extra frame & odd E error. Seems to be a perf 13 .5 X 12 .5.

Since the left 2 is not centered below the 1 in the fraction, this is a die II. If it is a 13 1/2 x 12 1/2, then it probably has the small multiple watermark and was issued on Jan 14, 1927. This would make it SG 96. If the watermark is inverted, then it is slightly more valuable, and known as SG 96w.

In my Australian Commonwealth Specialist's Catalogue, there is a listing 92(4)i which is "Central bar of second E of PENCE deformed". The latest catalog value for this, according to ACSC, is AUD$25, but don't expect to get anywhere close to that due to centering and other issues. The extra line is known as a compartment line and is of interest, but really adds no value. The filled in A is just a bonus. I hope this helps.

Your stamp is die 2 SG96. It is positioned as Plate 3 right #55 as shown below. The heavy extra line (compartment line) below and over the crown is common and indicates that this was from late in the print run.
