I started collecting stamps and comic books 60+ years ago and became fascinated with precancels 26 years ago. I have been a member of the Precancel Stamp Society for 25 years. I have general collections for Mississippi, Ohio and West Virginia plus Town and Type collections for everything else.

I am here to learn. I recognize several member names who have probably forgotten more about precancels than I will ever know.

The only ties to mainstream philately that remain are that I collect non-commercial US Bicentennial covers (1973-1983) and advertising covers for antique, muscle powered, blacksmithing and woodworking tools.

Other: I am an avid reenactor, woodworker, antique tool restorer and was a hobby blacksmith for 13 years. Feel free to email/PM if you share any of my interests.

RP77469,

Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences.

My personal bias is a used stamp loses the story of its journey in the postal service when it is removed from the cover it transported to its destination. Collecting postal history adds a whole new aspect to your journey in our hobby.

Wishing you many enjoyable future days in our hobby. Russ
