Photographs are irrelevant in any of these cases.
What we need is a hi-resolution scan of the stamp (suspected coil).
In 99.999% of all cases, the suspected coil turns out to be a trimmed sheet/booklet stamp..

The "coil" height is just a bit more than 24mm, and should be 25mm or more to even be considered a candidate, also has what appears to be a perforation at lower right end of the bottom. It is a trimmed Scott 300.

Trust. In the future, please use flat bed scans, not photographs. Also, we usually need a scan of the back to look for some other features. In this case, however, it is obvious from the front of the scan. The small perf hole remnant is in the red circle below (your picture, cropped and enhanced with added circle). This proves that the stamp originally had perforations on that side, and someone in the past tried to trim them off to simulate a straight edge surface:

Be sure to tell your friend that it is NOT a coil stamp, in case they try to sell it to some unsuspecting buyer as such.
