Welcome to Stamp Community Forum, thecape!

Bigger pic, please -- I can't make out the overprint in the bottom line. It appears to be a local overprint of Austrian military stamps. The bottom line may be the name of the city/region. Some German, Austrian, and Warsaw local post issues were overprinted locally during the early years of the Polish Republic (c1918). Scott lists some of these, but not all.

welcome, thecape,
can you please post a deeper res scan?
perhaps isolate one stamp
we need the lower text opt.

One would assume it be under:
Poland
Austrian Stamps Overprinted

but not shown in Stanley Gib catalogue.
Opts not listed in askphil.

What are the lines between the stamps? printed? cut marks

They purport to be locals from Olkusz. I can't say whether they are genuine (even with a better scan...perhaps someone else can).

1918, occupied Poland. Widely forged.

This "encyclopedia" site shows Olkusz locals, and says they are "not numbered by Fischer", the preeminent Polish specialized catalogue.

The above page is actually intended to be viewed on a site that uses frames - here's its home page.

This Polish auction listing shows them as in fact having Fischer catalogue numbers. I only have Fischer volume 1, not volume 2 where the local issues are listed, so I can't check.

Olkusz issues aren't included among the locals listed in the Michel Eastern Europe catalogue, nor are they in Michel's Austria specialized or the ANK Austria specialized catalogue.

Impressive information Ryan.
Love that site.

The stamps are not listed in Katalog Popularny 1984 either.
