Hello Whtmnk, welcome!

Your first link does not work.

The pics in Image shack are great but all I know of some of them is that they are known as Russian Imperial Eagles, post-horns with thunderbolts. I sold some once on ebay.

I do not have a catalog though nor am I familiar enough with them to point out any special things about them to you. Some do have nice overprints and cancels but I am not an expert in this area.

1st you have to check that these are actually Russia not Finland some are almost identical. The early Russian depend very heavily on watermark and background. Some can be quite frustrating if you do not know what you are looking for! Borrow a copy of Scott's Catalog from your local library(most have them). Invest in a good magnifying glass. Then take your time and you should be fine. If in doubt, bring them to a local stamp show, see if you can find a dealer that specializes in Eastern Europe or the Baltic's.

Welcome to Stamp Community Forum, Chris!

I only took a quick cursory glance, but it appears...

-- there are no Finnish stamps, looks like all Russian
-- I really didn't see anything particularly valuable in there (again, cursory glance); which stamp/stamps did you consider valuable; almost all the stamps catalog for $1 or less, maybe a couple that catalog for slightly above $1

All the stamps appear to be post-1880, so are very common except for the higher denomination stamps (which I didn't see any in your pics).

Perhaps you (or a friend) thought they were the earlier issues, which are more valuable. But I did not see any pre-1880 Imperial Eagles in the pics. Sorry. Maybe someone else will spot something.

Welcome, Chris.

Three things:
1. I did not click on every link...only about half.
2. I do not have a catalogue in front of me right now.
3. I really like the pre-revolution Russian stamps, but I am not an expert, by any means.

With the disclaimers out of the way, I agree with k that the stamps appear to be fairly commonly available. (That doesn't mean that they aren't nice.)

Taking a quick look at a scan is not enough to rule out the possibility of higher value stamps being hidden in plain sight. If you can get your hands on any catalogue, even an older one, it would help you in getting a better identification, and would give you an idea of the relative value of one stamp to another, even if it didn't necessarily give you a current "market" value.

Just a suggestion...if it is possible for you to upload pictures, instead of links, you may get a few more eyes looking at each stamp. You never know who will notice something!

Thanks for sharing them.

Collin
