Here are my first Quetzal stamps from Guatemala. Having been inspired by certain members of this forum I am starting a collection of Guatemala in addition to my US collection

I am not sure 100 percent but I believe that Quetzal refers to the bird on the stamps, but I am sure one of our experienced Guatemala collector can tell us for sure

Poor Phil...poor poor Phil

Come on Jopie, give Phil a break.

Let him get that tattoo

He can get a nice buzz cut haircut, and an earring for his
pierced nose

Rick:

If you get bored with Guat stamps, you can always collect the stamps of Costa Rica. A thriving democracy, good economy (their number one export used to be coffee, now it's computer IC's--20% of the world supply of Intel IC's are produced in Costa Rica), and there is a free trade agreement between Canada and Costa Rica.

Phil:

There is a Quetzal on a bird series of Costa Rica from the 1980's... I'm still trying to get one for you.

I saw Quetzals in the wild in Costa Rica this May, while touring the rain-forest in the north-central region. Amazing birds: my guide managed to locate three: a mature female, a juvenile male, and an adult male. The adult male was unforgettable as he swept across the sky towards the nest, looking like an airborne snake high aloft, with the long plumage in trail...

hmm.. having been a sailor and a marine (sort of) I was a Line Corpsman..
I can say beyond a doubt that the seaman stories you hear are true... the Marines have worse stories.. I have seen both groups of people in a foreign port on liberty..
The sailors get drunk and pass out, the Marines get drunk and beat everyone up.
