I've never seen both the orientation and the dimensions of the grill, is this something special or fake? I am grateful for any help

My thought is a patent cancel although your front image does not really show what is going on well. I doubt it is a fake grill because why would a faker deliberately skew the grill? Besides, the grill itself resembles none of the production grills.

You would be surprised at the number of fakers who really didn't know what they were doing. That's why a lot of fakes are easily exposed by knowledgeable collectors.

High Probability that it is a poor fake. No obvious points, just boxes. Points up in this time period extremely rare and the size is 11 x 13 "points"

Rodcam:

Patent cancels typically break the paper of the stamp on the obverse. Perhaps the fake was a newbie

It actually speaks extremely against a fake that the counterfeiter makes no effort to apply the grill as genuinely as possible. So I saw that, but it could be that it was just a very very bad and incapable counterfeiter. Haha

As I said earlier, there have been a lot of those.

I count the point distribution at 11 x 12 1/2. (horiz/vert)
Truncated pyramid.
None of these features corresponds to anything that was being done in the period when this stamp was current.
Nothing issued matches up.

I have examples of most of the grill experimentals for this period and nothing matches up with this.
I also have both of the books recently published by Ian Hofmeyer, which are exhaustive and authoritative.
Nothing like what you show in this thread corresponds with anything genuine.

Okay, that's a good 0.5% chance that the postage stamp is worth a lot. 99.5% chance worthless:)

0.5% is quite overly optimistic.

It's worth about $10-$12 as a reference example to someone building such a collection.

That depends on how honestly you represent the stamp when offering it for sale.

If you point out that the grill on this stamp does not conform to the normal requirements of a grill for this period, that would be honest.

If you claim that this "find" represents a new discovery without corroborating evidence against existing knowledge, then you are being less than authentic, inasmuch as the body of evidence is directed elsewhere and you prefer to ignore it.

It all comes down to your personal honesty.

We, of course, are paying attention to how you choose to handle this.

Honestly, I have no idea if I'll ever sell this stamp, but I think I'll have it tested, even if there's only a very small chance it's authentic. If I were to sell it for a lot of money without testing it first, the chances of me being dishonest about it being a unique or special stamp would be high. It would have to be someone who knows nothing about stamps and is willing to spend a lot of money. I think that's pretty unlikely and also not my goal :)

Yes, I can imagine that there are some of them.
