Hello everyone,
I'm a beginner and recently came across an 1872–1880 Queen Victoria St. Vincent 1 Shilling stamp in the reddish orange color. After doing some research on StampWorld, I found that this issue has three types: 25, 25a, and 25b.
From what I understand, the only difference appears to be the perforation type, but I would love to hear from more experienced collectors to confirm this and provide any additional insights.
Can anyone give it a look and share their opinions on whether this is a specific type or anything worth noting?
Thanks in advance for your expertise!
Best regards,

Hi Therokie,

On the law of averages yours is SG58 but we'll need to know the watermark and perforation gauge to confirm.

The design is one of the prettiest QV issues of the entire empire I think.

You can buy a perforation gauge, or there are printable ones online. You can see some watermarks by holding them against natural or artificial light, or face diwn against a black background. Lighter fuel appleid to the back of the stamp in a dish can also show the watermark. Some are just very hard to see.

You should be able to establish reasonably easily whether it has a star watermark or a Crown over CA watermark, which would make it one the later versions, as suggested by Bobby.
