Hi everyone and Happy New Year from Australia.
I have these 2d purple KGVI stamps in MNH condition.
On Stanley Gibbons catalogue 2022 I can only find an entry for this, 1941 #185 with a CV of £75 per stamp. Yet somehow I don't think these are it.
Could anyone with a bit more knowledge let me know what exactly I have?
Any comments are welcome.
Oscar

Hi Oscar

Your ID is correct, but you may have misread the catalogue value. In my 2020 edition, it is 75 pence (£0.75), not 75 pounds (£75).

Phil

Hahaha I'll have another look but yes, I believe I may have stuffed up!
They don't have a dot (.75) in the value column, only 75. I assumed it was 75 pound.
Thank you so much for your reply.

Go to the introduction pages in your SGcatalogue and look for a section on "Guides to Entries". This is normally the last page of the Intrduction with page number in Roman numbers. You will find that:

  • prices from 1p to 99p is just the number, eg 75 in your case.

  • prices in pounds and pence do not show a currency symbol, eg 15.75

  • prices in whole pounds, no decimal pence, use the currency symbol, eg £150
