Error In Postal Cancellation Date!

We can say a unique pair of 80IWB.
The uniqueness is that the brand was officially printed on 09/1/1948 and the postal cancellation on the brand was 09/17/1947, which is a year earlier than the 80IWB brand itself was officially printed.
Many will say that there is nothing unusual about this, but it is unique for this series of the brand!!!

How did you manage to rule out an error by the postal clerk when setting the cancel date?
